Aah Galactus, we meet again…
So since Galactus got nerfed I pretty much abandoned the guy, he just seemed like he’d be much too annoying to try to play at 5 power, and I wasnt really thinking about trying him out again for a while, that wa until the collector cache went and gave me a Dan hipp variant of him and I immediately went back to my old thanos x galactus deck which I hadn’t really even used that much since before Alioth came out, and figured I’d mess around with him and try to get a few clips of the cool variant in action 🤣
I have to be honest I was pleasantly surprised with how I didn’t just lose every single game and in fact even gained a few ranks during the short time I was running the deck, it’s always satisfying getting him to pop off.
It’s worth noting that that doesn’t mean it is going to work all the time. In fact there are a fair few retreat conditions that didn’t exist before and ultimately the deck itself is quite high rolly. So it’s worth noting that even tho i had a good lil with it earlier, I totally cam see it having a terribly unlucky time too. It sorta relies on you being able to proc Galactus at the right time and place and so the playstyle won’t be for everybody, I’m sure.
But if you’re up for trying it… The idea is finding ways to play galactus early without wave or electro. As I always found those two to be huge signposts for galactus.
Dgmw, thanos galactus is a little predictable too these days, and both are easier to counter, but I think sometimes people forget that galactus didn’t get deleted from the game, and so they probably played taskmaster left because they thought they would avoid an Alioth or shang chi instead, and may not have considered I’d try soemthing as stupid as Shuri galactus mid like it’s still a few months ago 🤣
X-23, time stone and psylocke are all there to try and get galactus out as soon as you can, whilst the space stonec negasonic Teenage Warhead and killmonger allow you to free up locations for galactus later.
There are quite a few ways to get extra energy on the go every turn and that heps with dropping galactus, alternatively you have iron man, death and thanos who can be used situationally as back up plans.
If you proc with Galactus and don’t have Alioth, you can use invisible woman and Shang chi to try and get a big guy.
And remember that snapping on turn 6 after Galactus can win you the game even if you don’t have Alioth because it makes people retreat.
Anyway, dck is lots of fun, I won’t claim it to be super meta but it’s always fun with Galactus.. And the variant is one which I’ve wanted for aaaages so it’s a good day.
Hope ur havin a good day too. Like n subscrib, here’s the deck list:
